Hello guests, my name is Myra Ireland. My husband Al and I bought this place as a vacation cottage in 1970. We fell in love with the river and the rugged natural grounds. We planted many trees and gardens in the soil we had to compost for and bring to the site. A few years later, we built our dream home and raised our daughter here. Now our grandchildren also enjoy it as a second home.
Now we'd love to share it with you! My daughter Laurette and I opened the River and Rose in June 2011. It has become my passion. I'm your hostess, and along with my husband Al, will make sure your stay is as comfortable as home, ensuring you will feel 'well pampered' ~ a great home-away. Our specialties are fresh, delicious breakfasts prepped just to your taste, our care for detail and attention, and a spacious comfortable space for you to call home.
We also have a passion for gardening and for keeping our yard as natural as we can. If the wildlife is any indication, nature is happy here. We have many frogs, newts, fish, birds, and deer that visit often or even stay.
We named our B&B for our grandchildren River and Rose - which suits our place perfectly as well. We hope to see you here soon!
However these days I am sole manager with a great deal of help from my fabulous husband. Laurette is still a great sourcefor ideas and feedback she is much too busy with our wonderful grandkids, her own life and career. I manage the B&B; do the cleaning, prep and maintenance, cooking and serving and accounting with major support from Al.
I love the job, the lovely people we meet (many become long-standing friends) and the opportunity to inter-relate with other locals. We use local product where ever prudent, boast of and recommend local business and points of interests.
This custom, home shop built sign with custom designed unique Logo is the first symbol of our new community offering ~ a B&B! We'll just try it for a year's term...now heading into the sixth year we are thrilled to continue. From the fabulous feedback we receive (5/5 stars) it had been a great choice.
Grandma gets an approving wave off the balcony from Rose - 2011 start-up date.
This photo displays the peaceful, rejuvenating naturalness of the river beach area. Sights, sounds, smells all instigate a feeling of contentment. Our guests, in the know say...ZEN!
Myra and Al own this lovely home, Myra owns the B&B business and loves to 'spoil' people. Al is a fabulous Mr. Fix or Build-it. Together they love to make it all work for you.
This is the River of our name ~ our grandson and the Alouette River flowing by in this photo. We are fortunate to have the Alouette River flow over our property and leave us a nice sandy shore to enjoy. The river is a fabulous place to relax, collect one's thoughts, drift off to oblivion for a while. Fish and fry circle at your feet, Eagles, heron, Mallards, Wood Ducks, Mergansers, gulls circle above... As one guest put it...connect with yourself and nature ~ land and river.
R&R has received a reward for excellent reviews and support from guests who have stayed or visited those who have stayed and choose to give public feedback. We are most proud of this commendation! Seems people who come here, love it here ~ the number of referral guests through previous guests and visitors has increased greatly over the years! Thank you wonderful people!
Sitting beside the flowing water is such a lovely place to be, connect with nature, sort my thoughts, enjoy the peaceful tranquility.
We know our guests enjoy this as well.

This picture taken by Myra is of our RED Rhodo in warm bright summer sun. Entered into a contest with Behr paint - such a fabulous lovely color!
This is the UNIQUE symbol for River and Rose B&B. Designed by Myra's husband Al, with a nod to our wild roses on the property. Al made it into the business sign hanging at the Fern Crescent frontage ~ it is front and center on our River and Rose B&B brochures and business cards.
